Mother’s Pride

This colorful and original painting is by Nii Teiko Aryeetey in Ghana. He refers to his style of painting as 'Linenism'; the idea came to him from watching streaks of rain water as they were blown into slanted lines by the wind. In this composition, a proud Ghanaian woman is shown in silhouette, her head held high and her figure all that is the feminine ideal.
