Aso Wura

Inspired by the traditions of Ghana's Gonja people, Sefah Annwhar creates his own version of the 'Aso Wura' ('Property Owner') mask. They used it to distinguish between tenants and landlords, as well as to guide travelers or visitors as to who owns a particular piece of land. Ornately decorated with embossed aluminum, the sese wood mask is carved by hand and painted brown.
