Obaatanpa

This richly-detailed round accent table is the original creation of Joseph Boateng in Ghana. Using traditional hand tools, he carves the table from native sese wood, with a pedestal depicting a Ghanaian woman with a pot upon her head and a baby on her back. The tabletop features an elephant etched into the surface, as well as a triangular border motif in red and white that is echoed on the table's base. The artisan names it Obaatanpa, which means 'good mother' in the Twi language spoken by the Akan tribe.
