Ghanaian Ahoufe

Ghanaian designer Theophilus Sackey presents this stunning mask that is made using local sese wood. Theophilus works with local artisans who cut and carve the wood into the bold design, before painting and polishing the mask. Intricate textured aluminum repoussé metalwork adorns the mask's cheeks and forehead. The name ahoufe is an Akan word which means 'beauty.'
